Email Phishing – Be aware of the realities

Email phishing is an attempt to acquire sensitive information from email accounts. It is very much common nowadays. So many people suffer due to email phishing. It includes leakage of information such as user names, passwords, and other valuable information. Most of the times, it leads to robbing money from people.

Email Phishing can be avoided only if the users become aware of that. Recognizing such mails is the only way to get out of that. The first thing need to take care is the greeting which the hacker uses. Usually they did not know your names. They may be using some common salutation which is not specific. For example “Dear member”. Another behavior of phishers is that they ask you to confirm, validate and update your information as if it is in an urgency. They may even threat you by indicating some consequences. Please do check the links or URLs which you receive from anonymous centers. Proceed with the links only if it sensed genuine.

Phishers usually use such tricky links. Another easy identification method for such mails were they usually looks like websites which ask you to enter your personal information. Legitimate companies will not ask you to enter your personal information in a mail. Another regular thing which is found in phishing mails is the spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes, missing words, lack of logic etc. If you notice such things from mails, you should be careful. A genuine webpage usually starts with “https://” on their url. Do not enter your information on web sessions which does not follow this. Legitimate companies will not include pop ups in their mails. If it is, that can be a phishing attempt. The most important thing is the attachments which found along with phishing mails. They are very much dangerous. Be careful while you are downloading these things. They may contain virus or other malware.

So be careful while you act in responsive with mail from unknown centers. Think a while before you proceed with links mentioned in that. Your safety is in your hands.
